Waiting on the Lord

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not grow weary. They shall walk and not faint.

Have you ever been in times when you had to wait upon the Lord? and you would prefer not to?

There are several things in my world that need to be fixed...changed...set right. And in my mind, there are things that I could do to put those changes in motion.

But it would just be me. Not the Lord. At least, I haven't heard from Him yet.

So, I will wait on the Lord...for a while...as long as I can.

And I will believe that He who promised is also able to perform it.

How about you? Ever been in this place?

I have been waiting on the Lord for specific things for a very long time...going on 15 years now. Sometimes not so patiently. I often feel it will never come about and then get discouraged but I have to remember that even though I am ready, perhaps the circumstances are not ready or God hasn't lined up exactly what needs done yet.

On the other hand, a step of faith never hurts either. Although, some of us just need a push!

That has been my life the last 2 years! He just does not get in a hurry at all. I believe that this is HIs way of seeing if we are truly sincere in our faith in Him.

I am actually at this place right now. I don't like waiting upon the Lord. I am an instant gratification person. I know instant gratification doesn't produce character in me, so I know waiting is necessary.

When I am going through something or waiting on an answer to prayer, I want God to answer that prayer right now and the way I want. Through the years I have began to think that God also is interested in how I handle a situation and respond to it. Waiting produces fruit in our lives, even if it isn't much fun sometimes.

I am terrible at waiting. I am a fixer. I wonder how much time and energy I waste trying to fix things for God when he doesn't want me to. Listening would be better... maybe not easier.

Seems like no one likes to wait. Why does it take so long for some things and then everything else goes way too fast?

I understand about the circumstances not being right and it is kind of fun putting the pieces together after the fact but I still don't like it. If we are willing to do whatever it takes (except wait) for something that we are sure of then it shouldn't take years and years.

I wouldn't mind waiting a lot longer for my next birthday though.
