There is a concept that keeps rattling around in my head. Character must catch up with our gifts and callings. I just can't get away from it.
The Bible teaches that all of us have been given spiritual gifts from God. I believe that having been given the abilities to perform certain tasks, the Lord assigns us to particular situations (places) where we can best serve Him.
But then, we need to live right. Our character must be solid. We must be people of integrity. People who do the right thing when no one is looking. People who obey the Lord and the teachings of Scripture.
I believe that this is why we struggle in our ministries. Strong gifting. Strong calling. Weak character.
What do you think?

I totally believe this also. The integrity part and then living right "behind closed doors". I have always had this problem with people teling me they will do something and not do it. I know there are things that do come up and they can't. I am talking about just not doing it or "forgetting" to do it. I feel if they really wanted to do what they said, they wouldn't "forget" it. I know so many people that act one way around people, especially in church or around other Christians, and then they change when they are at home or with family, etc. I saw this also when I was at the radio station. People would act one way over the air and as soon as they were off, they acted totally different. I do feel this hinders God from working in our life and ministeries.
Totally true pastor...
That is one of my big problems. I believe God gives me things to do but i rapidly forget that He also gives me the strength and the tools that go with it... So i just rely on my weak weak character and can't stand the pressure or the task.
But then, as soon as i fix my eyes on Jesus and on what He expects from me and that I CAN DO IT BECAUSE HE IS WITH ME... then, only then, do i build my character to be stronger... and realize that it is not this hard after all to stay right, to keep to my word, specially the word i gave to the Lord.
We have to work in our minds and our spirits to do the things God gives us to do. When we truly decide (because it is a decision) to obey in every aspect of our lives, then we have an amazing power.
